Penguin Ed’s has been known as one of the best places to get BBQ in the Fayetteville area for nearly two decades. I myself have filled up at this stop on Mission and Crossover a few times. Of their three locations in Fayetteville there is a debate between my associate and I on which location has the best food. I tend to lean towards the Weddington address but all locations, in my opinion, are going to give you some great BBQ. The main reason I prefer the Weddington location is the chicken, beef, and pork are all served chopped but you also have a pulled pork option that I really enjoy.

If you are looking for large portions I would suggest a rack of ribs. The award-winning ribs are always consistent across the board and two of them with a side item will do it for me. Just an FYI, the char-grilled burger is very salty. The gourmet bun and grilled onions however were a great compliment. All in all Penguin Ed’s is a great place to go for the smoked meats but I would stay clear of the burgers.
